Sac and Fox Nation

The Eagle Adventure program brings the story of Mr. Eagle and his friends to life in a classroom setting. Built around storytelling and the exciting Eagle Play as the program introduction, children learn how staying healthy and strong can help prevent type 2 diabetes. Each school year since 2012, Sac and Fox partners have assisted OKTEP educators to bring the Eagle Adventure program to elementary schools within the Tribe’s boundaries. They have been eager to star in the Eagle Play, even asking their family members to also act in the play.

In early 2020, we partnered with the Sac and Fox Nation Dietitian to showcase Diabetes is Not Our Destiny cooking demos for families to learn more about how to use traditional foods as ingredients in healthy recipes. The cooking demos also shared ideas for movement to keep families healthy and strong.
